Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Maria Antonia Cay, better known as “Toñita” 🇵🇷✨

At an event where she was receiving a Cultural Impact Award, I got the opportunity to speak with her, and what a sweet and humble lady. I asked her what part of Puerto Rico she was from, and when she said Juncos, I immediately looked at my boyfriend and said, “Look huney, she’s from your hometown… you guys might be family” 😂🇵🇷

If you’re Puerto Rican, you already know our families are huge, so honestly… you never know 😅 She smiled and said, “Maybe.” ❤️

Talking to her felt like having a conversation with your grandma… warm, genuine, and full of love.

As we were talking, I couldn’t help but tell her that I keep hearing about her rice and beans because I love a good home-cooked meal. I said, “If you make it yourself, then I will need to stop by.”

She smiled and said, “Yes! It’s going to be the best rice and beans you’ve ever had in your life. Come by on Sunday.”

So now I guess I’m going to have to troop it to Brooklyn one of these Sundays 😅🇵🇷

Moments like this are so special. You can truly feel the love, culture, and community she has built over the years through Toñita’s Caribbean Social Club in Williamsburg. So happy I got to meet such a Puerto Rican icon! ❤️

𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲…
Lawd does it take work! So many moving parts behind the scenes that people don’t see.

But during rehearsal the other day, I had one of those quiet moments that reminded me why all the work is worth it. I was on stage helping one of our little contestants practice her T-walk for the pageant and rehearse her introduction in Spanish (which we encourage them to do). 😊

It made me feel so proud to be part of something so special — something they might never forget.

For some of these girls, speaking Spanish on stage is something completely new — some of them are learning and trying it for the very first time. For many of these girls, stepping on stage and speaking Spanish for the first time can feel a little scary, but watching them practice, grow, and slowly step into that confidence is really beautiful.

Through this cultural pageant, they’re not only learning how to present themselves on stage — they’re also connecting with their Puerto Rican roots and celebrating their heritage with pride.

Moments like this remind me that this pageant is about more than just a stage — it’s about culture, growth, and confidence.

And to think… I once stood on that very stage as a contestant myself. Now I have the privilege of helping guide the next generation.

These are the moments that remind me why this cultural pageant matters.

This one really hit home, because I’ve known my buyer
for most of my life.

Being part of his and his wife’s journey to becoming first-time homeowners was a true full-circle moment, and watching their family step into this next chapter made it even more meaningful.

And what are the odds? Both families came from the Bronx — the sellers passing the home on to another Bronx family. Even the seller’s agent was from Mosholu in the Bronx. 😃
Now a new chapter begins in Orange County.
