With fraud on the rise, property owners must remain vigilant! Resources that promptly alert owners of changes should be utilized, such as Property Alert Services. Under HB 1419, the Clerk of Circuit Court for each County is required to provide a free recording notification service by July 1, 2024 to all persons who sign-up for the free service.
Many Clerks and Comptrollers in counties across the state are ahead of schedule and have developed Property Alert Services free of charge. Upon registering with the service, property owners are alerted when a deed, mortgage or other official record is recorded in the property owner’s name in the county records. All the property owner has to do is register!
