Worship looks a little different today.
And I know what some would say, “Ashlee, this is a volleyball tournament, not worship.”
Well… you’d be wrong.
Because worship isn’t confined to four walls or a Sunday morning setlist. It’s not limited to a stage or a sanctuary. Worship is anything that honors God and today, that looks like early call times, (we left our house at 5:50am) kneepads, and a whole lot of hustle. Colossians reminds us to work at everything as if we’re working for the Lord. That includes serves, sets, digs, and dives.
So yes this gym is loud. It smells like concession stand coffee and 85 different body sprays. (Because, teenage girls). There are whistles instead of worship bands and huddles instead of pews.
But I see:
Hands lifted in victory.
Hearts learning perseverance.
Community built in the in-between moments.
If worship is surrender, gratitude, excellence, unity, and joy then it absolutely belongs here too.
Today, worship looks like volleyball. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
