With all the talks of a recession happening, I’ve been asked a few times lately how the housing market will be affected. I’ve had buyers, sellers and potential clients concerned about a real estate bubble. As most of us know, the last recession in 2008 started in the housing sector, because of the banks sub prime loans and then trickled into financial sector. New laws have been implemented changing lending procedures forever to avoid that disaster again. Most Americans remember the last recession and automatically get anxious about housing.

So here’s my summary of what economists are saying:
This POSSIBLE recession is due to trade wars and global weakness. The housing market is Projected to remain solid and mortgage rates are Projected to remain low throughout the next year. 3.8%. That’s not to say pricing won’t drop a little if there is a recession. It’s just projecting that it won’t be anything like the huge drop in 2008. Housing prices are high when there’s a lack of inventory...it’s not always a bubble! 😉

My advice is to make your real estate decisions based on your own personal finances, and remember to keep an emergency fund just in case of job cuts!
