PROTECT YOUR PIPES. PROTECT YOUR HOME.

DO’s & DON’Ts to help prevent frozen or burst pipes in your home:

✅ DO

✔️ Drip faucets, especially those on exterior walls and upstairs sinks
✔️ Cover outdoor spigots with insulated covers
✔️ Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate
✔️ Keep your heat on (at least 65°F), even if you leave town
✔️ Disconnect and drain garden hoses
✔️ Know where your main water shutoff is — just in case

❌ DON’T

❌ Turn your heat off during a freeze
❌ Ignore slow water flow or unusual sounds coming from pipes
❌ Forget about pipes in garages or along exterior-facing walls
❌ Assume “it won’t happen to me” — Houston-area pipes aren’t built for hard freezes
