If you're looking for a great local place to eat, put Hello Sunshine Eats in Linden on your list!

We stopped by for their Friday night Surf & Turf, and it did not disappoint. Fresh sushi, crispy fried dill pickles, baked oysters, perfectly grilled ribeyes and filets, golden onion rings, and the Jacked-Up Shrimp...trust us, those are a must-try!

This time of year is even better because their farmer's market is stocked with fresh local produce, making it a unique stop for both a great meal and seasonal finds.

Need lunch? They're open 7 days a week with a hot lunch bar that's become a favorite for locals. Looking for dinner? They're also open Thursday through Saturday evenings, so there's plenty of time to plan a visit.

We came across this giant live oak in Apalachicola’s historic district and immediately started asking the same question:

🌳 How old do you think this tree is?

Take a close look at the trunk, the limbs, and the size of the canopy.

Then leave your guess below.

We’ll reveal our estimate after we see what everyone thinks.

Everybody wants a deal.

But when it comes to land, the cheapest property is often the most expensive one after closing.

We’ve seen buyers purchase land at what seemed like a bargain price, only to discover they needed thousands of dollars for stump removal, power installation, well drilling, driveway construction, or site preparation.

The purchase price is only part of the equation.

Can you legally access it?

Can you build on it?

Can you get power and water to it?

Can it actually support your plans?

Before you focus on price per acre, focus on usability.

What hidden costs would concern you most when buying land?

Dove season starts now.

We’re planting sunflowers just ahead of a long soaking rain to get these dove fields established early for September season. One field is fenced to help protect young growth from deer pressure while another is left open for more natural browsing.

Good hunting properties are built months before opening day.

That’s part of what makes rural land ownership special. Every season gives you something to prepare for, improve, and enjoy.

If you’ve ever wanted your own dove field, summer is the perfect time to start planning for it.

🌳 Some things are bigger than real estate.

Today we had the honor of recognizing the official Alabama State Champion Southern Red Oak right here in Marengo County, Alabama. Standing beneath this giant oak reminds you quickly that this is more than just a tree. It was here long before us and, with good stewardship, will hopefully stand long after us too.

A special thank you to the Alabama Forestry Commission, along with Jim Dixon and Bayne Moore, for officially presenting the Champion Tree plaque as part of the Alabama Champion Tree Program.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the Nall family for preserving this remarkable piece of Alabama history and allowing Team HaleSmith to nominate the tree on their behalf.

Southern Red Oaks can live well over 100 years, provide critical wildlife habitat, and become living landmarks for generations of families and communities. This one now officially holds the title as the largest in the entire state of Alabama.

And in Alabama… being called “state champion” in anything is a pretty big deal. 🏆
