A good reminder…
Don’t be fooled by jet skis. They’re more dangerous than you think. ⚠️
Personal watercrafts (PWCs), or jet skis, WaveRunners, and Sea-Doos, are popular on the lake during the summer. They look simple to just hop on and go, but there’s a lot more to operating one safely than you might think.
If you’re riding a PWC this summer, here’s what you should know:
• Inexperience, excessive speed, and not paying attention to your surroundings are the leading causes of PWC accidents. Stay vigilant on the water.
• PWCs don’t operate like boats. They handle differently, so be sure to adjust.
Here’s the big one ❗
• A PWC can’t turn if it’s not powered on. If you release the throttle, leave it idle, or turn it off, you lose the ability to steer completely, and the PWC will continue in the same direction.
They might look easy to use, but PWCs should be handled with care, so take the time to learn how to safely operate them.
