From a tree geek like me I’m paying tribute to the Ocmulgee River! It’s always been a pleasure working in land management throughout its most scenic corridor! Starting with the swift, rapid shoals in Jackson/Butts counties to the easy, steady flow through Macon to Jacksonville Ga! A large percent of the pines have been cut over time, although in some areas like Bibb, Houston and Bleckley county there are still giant oaks untouched since the turn of the century!
Like our other major rivers it’s rich with fish and game! If you have the chance to visit it never disappoints!!

Summer is upon us soon! For ppl out there practicing Quality Deer Management, consider designating sanctuaries on your land under 5 acres in size. They can be in multiple locations. This requires very little to no human activity in them to include trucks and ATV use. The benefits are ten fold! A lot of public land in Georgia has started these areas and they are seeing the results! Finding trails leading in and out and hunting the perimeters leads to success! Pressuring trophy bucks leads to nocturnal activity. Good luck this Fall 🦌🍁

My friends we are nearing the end of the prescribed burn season in our region. This tool is invaluable to both game and timber management! Fire eradicates unwanted undergrowth in timber stands and puts nutrients back into the soil. New, bright-green vegetation emerges beneficial to wildlife survival.

To my game management friends out there... consider planting Chufa gold mix this season for your wild turkeys. The plants take approx 90 days to mature, but you will maintain a healthy population year to year! The plant creates a peanut-like bulb the turkeys love just under the surface at the roots!! The product is made by Biologic and can be ordered on line. 💚🦃
