Existing-home sales slipped 1.7% in July from June but rose 0.7% year over year, the National Association of REALTORS® reported Tuesday. Think of it as your “do your homework” period. 📚🏠

Once you’re under contract, due diligence gives you time to investigate the home and make sure you’re comfortable moving forward.

This can include things like:

🔎 Having a professional home inspection

🔎 Looking for potential repairs or issues

🔎 Reviewing important documents

🔎 Checking out the neighborhood

🔎 Asking questions about the property

🔎 Getting estimates for repairs or improvements

🔎 Making sure the home is truly the right fit for you

The goal is simple:
Know what you’re buying BEFORE you fully commit.

And this is one of the many reasons having your own buyer’s agent matters. Your Realtor can help you understand the process, point out important deadlines, help you negotiate when appropriate, and make sure you know what questions to ask.
