Last week, Michuda Construction participated in Stand for Safety Week across all of our jobsites in the Chicago metro area. Participating companies choose a day to shut down their job sites for about 30 minutes and host a toolbox talk on a designated safety topic. This year’s topic was Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP). Thanks to the commitment of our field crews for demonstrating Michuda’s commitment to safety and the well-being of our workforce.

Michuda Construction is always looking for ways to implement team building exercises that drive LEAN adoption and practice. In conjunction with our Mentor-Protégé partner CRUZ Construction, our employees and interns engaged in a Kaizen event by hosting a prefabrication competition. Everyone is a winner when you continuously learn.

Michuda Construction proudly supported the 2022 Annual Advocate Children's Hospital Golf Classic as a Co-Title Sponsor at Edgewood Country Club! Funds raised at the event support the greatest needs of children and families receiving care. Event proceeds are directed at key initiatives for health equity in children, excellence in clinical outcomes and specialty programs.

We recently sponsored a Lunch N’ Learn with our office and field staff to learn more about Northwestern Medicine’s ICRA and ILSM protocols and procedures. NM Project Manager Construction Safety, Brian Tibbetts and NM-Palos Infection Preventionist, Dominique Witherspoon, facilitated a great learning opportunity.

Raphael is joining us from Purdue Northwest and will be graduating next year! He is working hands on with our team to gain some experience and knowledge about the industry. Raphael enjoys using his free time from school to cook in the kitchen and stay active by working out!

The Riverside Foundation uses funds raised from the event to support the advancement of surgery throughout the Riverside system. Kankakee Country Club hosted a great event once again!

Anthony O’Dette is embarking on his Michuda Summer Internship! Anthony is studying Construction Management and will be graduating in 2024 from Illinois State University! Anthony’s family is heavily involved in the construction field so he is excited to learn and work hands on with the Michuda team to further his education. Anthony has two dogs, and enjoys playing disc golf and spike ball!

As an advocate for safe construction performance, the Chicagoland AGC operates a Safety Award program to recognize General and Specialty contractors for outstanding safety performance. Michuda was awarded a Safety Recognition Award for our fourth consecutive year. This year, Michuda was also recognized with a Safety Excellence Award, This program closely examines each candidate’s commitment to safety and occupational health management and risk control.
