Liberty Commons

Liberty Commons Liberty Commons is a privately owned, federally subsidized apartment community. We offer housing for people age 62 and older, or disabled individuals.

Our lovely facility is a brick, 3-story “limited access” building, with 80 one bedroom apartments. Each apartment is approximately 550 square feet in size. The spacious living room and bedroom offer carpeting, paddle-ceiling fans, individually controlled thermostats and air conditioning. Each kitchen is equipped with modern appliances, garbage disposal and generous storage. Bathrooms are all equip

ped with grab bars in the tub area, a linen closet and ample lighting. Handicap accessible units have larger bathrooms with a walk-in shower with grab bars, raised commodes and lower sinks. Kitchen sinks and counter tops are also lower for better access. Range has front controls for easier reach. The Community Room, Laundry Facility and mail boxes are designed to allow easy access without leaving the building. In addition, Liberty Commons has a full-time, on-site Service Coordinator who assists residents in connecting with Federal, State and local resources, enabling them to live more independently. The Service Coordinator supplies residents with education opportunities about their health and welfare and arranges Wellness Clinics. They further aid in acting as an advocate for the resident if the need arises. Each resident receives a monthly newsletter with information about Liberty Commons, education information and a calendar of events. Bulletin boards are conveniently located on each floor with information to help keep residents informed. How much will my rent be? Rent is calculated on 30% of a person’s adjust gross income. What is adjusted gross income? Before we calculate the rent, we are able to deduct out-of-pocket medical expenses from the annual gross income which a resident anticipates having over the course of a 12 month period. While residing at Liberty Commons, you need not worry about paying for electric, gas, water and sewage or trash removal, these basic utilities are all part of your rent payment.
