Home values are on the rise, according to Lucas County Auditor Katie Moline. Moline announced the new property values, which have tentatively been approved by the state, during a press conference Friday.

If you didn’t already know, this summer your (Lucas County) home’s value will be reassessed for tax purposes. For most people this will mean a (substantial) increase in your monthly mortgage payment. In general letters go out in the Fall, taxes increase the 1st of the year, and you’ll get a letter from your mortgage provider in 2025 letting you know there has been an “escrow shortage” and you need to make up the difference.

We’re sharing this now to help people prepare in advance.

The last Lucas County Revaluation was 2018 and 2021 was the most recent Triennial. The 2024 tax year will be the next revaluation.

Probably a boring picture to most people, but the “stump” was actually a beautiful flowering shrub from the front of the house. It was overgrown and the roots were too close to the foundation.

We learned from our new neighbor that this was planted by the previous owner (who passed away) and decided to rehome it on the property.
