Fall is the right time to pull soil samples, not spring. If your results come back needing lime, lime takes months to move the pH. Pull it now and you've got all winter for it to work before the grass wakes up.

Most of our sandy soils in this county run acidic, and acidic dirt means the fertilizer you already paid for is sitting there half-locked-up. You can spend $500 on fertilizer that a $15 soil test would have told you not to buy.

The AgriLife Extension office can walk you through the sample bags and where to send them.
