Hushahu Yawanawa is a cultural guardian, artist, singer, and Pajé of the Yawanawá people of the Amazon. She is the first woman of the Yawanawá to complete the traditional spiritual initiation once believed impossible for women.

During this initiation she began to discover the world of the Pajés as a woman, expressing this through her art and her voice, bringing a female voice to the traditionally masculine songs. On her return she brought a great inspiration to her people as well as equality between men and women.

This transformation, along with the beauty of the songs and art she brought back, inspired many, both men and women to re-engage with their tradition.

Hushahu Aulas: A Journey of Spiritual Sovereignty, is a 6-week online course and rare opportunity to learn from a living, Indigenous leader of the Amazon, whose devotion and courage transformed the future of her people. Her journey invites us to remember who we are, root in what matters, and rise with integrity, beauty, and embodied prayer.

Shavora offers an experience that blends *music, cultural discussion, and community-building.

🌹 Together, Shavora is challenging long-standing patriarchal systems that have remained unshaken for generations in the Brazilian Amazon, while nurturing the healthy traditions they hold sacred. Their work is not just transformative; it’s a movement that puts wind under the wings of new thoughts and brings deep inspiration for all of Humanity.

Foi um momento muito importante para nós, poder compartilhar um dia com as crianças da aldeia, plantando 200 mudas de frutas graças a uma doação da .

Plantando não apenas as mudas que um dia darão frutos para as crianças, mas também incutindo em seus corações a importância de cuidar da floresta tropical.

Quem é o professor e quem é o aluno?

Hushahu sempre diz que aprende muito ao estar com crianças. Foi a maior bênção ter a filha de .vana, Naikene, morando conosco por um tempo em nosso espaço de retiro.

Vê-la vivendo livre e feliz na simplicidade, brincando na praia perto do rio ou ouvindo maravilhada as histórias tradicionais de espíritos e as vidas de seus ancestrais.

Who is the teacher and who is the student?

Hushahu always says she learns a lot from being with children. It was the greatest blessing to have .vana’s daughter Naikene living with us for a time in our retreat space.

Seeing her living free and happy in simplicity, playing on the beach by the river or listening in wonder at the traditional stories of spirits and the lives of her ancestors.

One of the most beautiful parts of our time in retreat has been to connect with the land we are on. It is a rare blessing in today’s world to have the opportunity to live inside and as part of the wild forest. The majority of the world’s forest have been destroyed but here we are able to connect with a natural world which remains untouched by human hands. Working the land, planting and caring for it brings us closer to this and also to ourselves as part of it.

Through this we work on ourselves, developing humility, compassion and patience in the simplicity of this way of life. Here the mosquitos especially teach us a lot of patience!

Observing the forest we learn about ourselves and the nature of our world. We see its beauty, impermanence and the delicate nature of life.

I always repeat that spirituality is not just about a moment of ceremony or an isolated experience, but something that makes part of our lives in every moment. To be a spiritual leader doesn’t just mean to sit on a throne and have everything done for you, we have to live what we teach in every moment.
