Have you been wondering what happened to all of the peanut butter from our Peanut Butter Drive?? We know it's been a little while since we wrapped things up at the end of May, and we finally have an update to share!
Thanks to your incredible generosity, we met our goal! We collected around 3,500 jars of peanut butter this year. Our original plan was to donate everything to Catholic Charities, but they are in the process of moving to a new building and weren't able to accept a donation this large. So, we reached out to the Topeka Rescue Mission; they were eager and excited to take all the peanut butter off of our hands!
After a lot of lifting, loading (and re-loading 🙃), and a few logistics hurdles ( 2½ pallets worth!), we made two trips to deliver every jar to TRM. They shared that this donation should help meet their peanut butter needs for about six months, which is an incredible testament to what this community accomplished together.
A special thank you goes to the incredible team at the North Dillons for helping us figure out how to get everything loaded. We truly couldn't have done it without your willingness to jump in and help!
Finally, thank you to everyone who donated, shared our posts, hosted collection boxes, and supported this year's drive. This donation belongs to all of you. Your generosity will help provide meals for countless individuals and families in our community, and we're so grateful to be part of a community that always shows up when there's a need.
