Like many of you, I’ve seen the heartbreaking videos coming out of Nepal. It’s unimaginable, but people were just going about their daily lives, and then, in a matter of moments, a massive surge of water, mud, and debris came sweeping through, overtaking entire communities. I don’t think most of us can even comprehend how quickly everything changed.

The Nepal-Tibet flash floods have killed more than 540 people, with many others still missing as rescue operations resume.

I have a friend in Nepal, and thankfully he and his family are safe. But many others have not been so fortunate. He shared that the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund is a trusted way to help those affected.

If you are able and feel moved to give, this is the official fund he recommended.

Even if you’re not able to donate, sharing this could help it reach someone who can. ❤️

I met this couple over a year ago at an open house, and this morning they close on their very first home. I truly love teaching and they truly love learning so it’s been a joy leading up to this very day. 🏡🔑

Along the way it was more than flooring and layouts, we really got to know each other. They impressed me countless times as their search continued. They knew exactly what they wanted, stayed patient, and today it all pays off, and I couldn’t be happier for them.

I told them at some point that I’m from Kingsville, Texas, home of the King Ranch, and that my great-grandfather, Jose Alegría, is pictured inside the official King Ranch cookbook. They took a genuine interest so yesterday, I gave them a copy of the cookbook for their new kitchen. As they put it, one of them loves to cook and the other likes to taste test so it felt like the perfect thing to share with them.

Alegría also means joy, and I can’t think of a better way to welcome them home than with a little Alegría. My hope is that it helps bring memories they’ll cherish for years to come. One of their musts was having a kitchen that could fit a large dining table or even two. Now they have the space for the table and some Alegría to share.

Three months ago, a friend was talking about some challenges relative to renting, and I asked if he had ever thought about buying a home.

At the time, homeownership wasn’t really on his radar for this year.

We talked about the home-buying process and where to start. I connected them with a trusted local lender at Community Bank and before long he and his wife had their pre-approval letter in hand and we were house hunting, ready to make a move.

As I always tell my clients, the good ones go fast, so having that letter in hand was crucial. When the perfect home hit the market, we took a look and immediately put together a strong offer. I was so excited later that day when I got to call and tell them their offer was accepted.

Fast forward through the repairs and negotiations, and boom…today JD and Alex are homeowners!! 🏡🔑

I’d say they did pretty good for something that wasn’t even on their radar just three months ago.
