A little throwback to Ms. Dove — born right here in this very building and proud owner of it her whole life. ❤️ Beside her is Mark Burenheide, once a resident himself and now one of Topeka’s most dedicated historic preservationists and historic developers, unveiling the plaque that officially placed this building on the National Historic Register. From lifelong memories to lasting legacy — this place has always had a story to tell.

We came across this awesome album which was actually recorded at the Hicks Block - "Postcards from Hicksblock (1987)", recorded by Bryce Krehbiel. The album was recorded in the living room of his Topeka apartment in 1987.

This is a great album and worth a listen!

We were delighted to host Shawnee County Historic Society for a tour of the Hicks Block Lofts this afternoon. We’re 3 years into the 28 unit project and have around 2 years left (fingers crossed).

Lots of progress! Recently Contractors have been putting on new roofing, painting the windows, doors and trim, refinishing wood floors, installing new electric and plumbing improvements and new HVAC! New storm windows should be installed to protect the original wood windows in the coming months. All improvements have been completed per preservation standards to protect these amazing buildings.

We just had 7 more air conditioning units installed on the roof! These apartments have never before had central air. Over the last few months we've also upgraded furnaces, plumbing, electrical and a new roof. Major progress is being made to give these wonderful buildings another 100 years of life.

We're prepping an apartment for a new tenant. We just had the previously painted wood floors sanded now we're hand scraping paint from between the floor boards joints. We hope our tenants love it as much as we do.
