Gorham just approved the first part of a massive new neighborhood with over 1,000 homes.
They’re building it on the old Gorham Country Club off McLellan Road, turning a hundred and seventy acres into a brand-new village with pools, parks, and sixty-five thousand square feet of space for local shops.
But they aren’t starting with the shops or apartments.
They’re building seventy-five single-family homes first, because selling those is how they’ll fund the new water and sewer lines that unlock the rest of the project later.
Site work starts this fall.
And while the whole neighborhood will take over twelve years to complete, a developer is already building a smaller fourteen-unit project called Fairway Commons right next door with homes starting in the mid-six-hundred-thousands.
They’re also preserving twenty-four acres of land along the Stroudwater River to keep the old walking trails open.
