Here in Maine autumn is glorious but before the leaves even finish falling the chores for putting the garden to rest for the winter must start. All the ceramic pots must be emptied of their summer occupants. The composter needs to be emptied of it’s black gold before the space is reoccupied by this years leaves. And the list goes on.

It's Spring, yes even in Maine it's now Spring. That being said many of us are looking at our yards and thinking "isn't it time we actually do something here". Many people get so bogged down with all the options, that I suggest doing just green. Put your inner landscape architect to work and just play with form and texture and forget about what color of flower goes with what. Like this photo a beautiful garden can be created with just interesting foliage in trees, bushes and groundcovers. Once you get that right you may start to have confidence to start adding color, or not. Go for it!
