Background: After graduating college, I spent a decade in Silicon Valley where I worked in sales and product management at several internet companies including Yahoo! From there, my wife and I took some of our earnings and started investing in real estate in 2003. It soon became my passion, and to this day we've either flipped or held onto over a dozen properties. I could be not happier for these repeat clients of mine, that sold their charming home for significantly more than they paid a couple of years ago, and for $75,000 over asking! Hope you're all staying safe out there. A lot of folks have been asking me what's going on in the real estate market, or how their home value is doing, etc. So I'm going to try to post some more market info to keep you up to date, because honestly the news isn't as bad as many think. For starters, you should know that here in Los Angeles County, so far in April we've closed 2,466 homes which is down roughly 50% year over year. This means that even though we're limited in which activities we can do safely, agents have been adapting, and we're still able to help clients buy and sell homes. Also, while I think we may see a slight decline in home value in April, for March we set a record for $/SF in LA county -- and these are deals that mostly closed after the covid rules went into effect. (see attached graph). Hope that adds a spot of good news in your FB news feed.
