How fun!
We are just a little over a month away from the Blue Ribbon Country Fair, brought to you by Big Meadow Family Campground! The big day is Saturday, September 25, and the hours of operation will be 10 am to 4 pm ET. Of course, all activities will take place at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center in Townsend.
In the tradition of old-time county fairs, we will have lots of livestock (cows, chickens, goats, sheep, etc.), outdoor activities such as the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet Toss, and all-around fun for the whole family. Living history demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day, including open-hearth cooking, flint-knapping, wood-turning, blacksmithing, and more. We also have a very special history interpreter who will be demonstrating wet plate photography! These activities are sponsored by Blount Partnership and the The Peaceful Side of the Smokies.
Due to ongoing health and safety concerns, unfortunately, we will not be judging entries as we have done in previous years. We hope we can bring these contests back for 2022. However, if you have produce, flowers, or crafts that you would like to show off, there will be ample display areas across the campus.
There is no admission charge to the Blue Ribbon Country Fair! It is free to attend! You'll also find plenty of free onsite parking, although a small donation for parking would be greatly appreciated.
Don't get caught napping -- make your plans today!
