Confession: I have a house crush.

Not for a client. Not for a listing. Just for me, if my wife would let me buy a second house for absolutely no reason.

It's got the wraparound porch, the barn, and the view of the bay. I drive past it more than I'd like to admit.

Anybody else have a house they're a little bit in love with?

Had a couple reach out last month ready to list their house. Excited, motivated, had a number in their head already.

I asked a few questions. Turned out they were moving for a job that hadn't been finalized yet. If it fell through, they'd have sold their home for nothing.

I told them to wait.
Could've listed it, took the check, moved on. But that's not why people work with me. My job isn't to close a deal. It's to make sure the deal is right for you.

Two weeks later the job fell through. They still own their house. And they still trust me, whenever they're actually ready.
That's the difference between an agent and someone who's just trying to hit a number this month.

Most Saturdays, you'll find me on the water, not at a desk. There's something about sitting still for a few hours that resets your whole week.

I've always believed patience matters, in fishing and in pretty much everything else. You don't force a good outcome. You slow down, pay attention, and let things happen the way they're supposed to.

One thing I wish more people knew

The best time to talk to a Realtor usually isn't when you're ready to list your house.
It's months before.

Some of the best conversations I've had ended with, "We're not ready yet."

And that's okay.
