Huge congratulations to our Agent of the Month, Sean McDonald!

In a challenging market, Sean doesn’t wait around, he makes things happen. What made him stand out this month wasn’t just his sales; it was his relentless dedication to his clients. Hi Michiganders, Homie here with a report from the riverbanks!

It is certainly ashy out there, so I decided to crash at Brooke's apartment for the night so I could see where on earth all of this smoke came from. As I'm sure you all know by now, there are several wildfires all around the U.S.A. and Canada that are pushing polluted smoke into our state.

The AQI (Air Quality Index) is in the hazardous range for all of Michigan today, so I for one will be extending my indoor staycation until the clouds clear up!

No need to panic, but it can never hurt to implement some healthy practices. Here is my advice for now:

- If you can stay inside, get cozy and let the AC filter the air for you, make sure to close any gaps if you have a window unit!
- Save any big outdoor plans for when it clears up, if you're unable to, consider picking up a NIOSH approved N95, KN95, or FFP2 mask until things clear up.
- Use the fire.airnow.gov app or your phone’s built-in weather app to check the AQI.

Whew, it is a warm one out there! Homie here, and I've got to tell you, while I love sunbathing on a nice river log, this dry weather means we all need to be extra careful. When we don't get rain for a bit, the forest floor turns into a tinderbox.

Right now, a stray spark from a cigarette, a hot exhaust pipe, or an uncooled campfire can start a wildfire in a matter of seconds.

Let's look out for each other:

- Avoid burning trash or yard waste on windy, dry days.

- Dispose of cigarette butts safely (never toss them out the car window!).

- Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby if you're doing any outdoor work.

Let's keep Northern Michigan green until the next good rain comes along to splash in! Check today's fire danger rating before you head out!

Put on to raise funds for su***de prevention programming in Northern Michigan, it will be a day of fly fishing, fun, and remembrance. Fishing can start as early as 6:30am and will end by 2:30pm, followed by an after party at Earthen Ales in Traverse City.

Hey neighbors, Homey here! While sliding around the local riverbanks this week, I’ve spotted a few brand-new white-tailed deer fawns curled up in the tall grass.

If you stumble across one while hiking or in your backyard, your first instinct might be to help. But as your resident wildlife scout, my biggest piece of advice is: Leave it be! Here is what you need to know:

- Mom isn't far: Doe leave their fawns alone for hours at a time to look for food and avoid drawing predators to them.

- Built-in Camouflage: Fawns have virtually no scent and those white spots help them blend into the dappled sunlight. They are supposed to look abandoned—it’s their survival strategy!

- Look, don't touch: Human scent can attract predators or cause the mother stress.

If the fawn looks healthy and is quietly waiting, just snap a quick photo from a distance and keep moving. Mom will be back by dusk!
