Beautiful water, beautiful place.

Here is a labeled version of that same photo as below. Don't you just love it?

Dear Roomie:

I am looking for a person who will be a good fit in this home. A mature adult, employed at Munson for at least a year OR under a contract of at least 12 weeks. A background and credit check is available from Munson HR- as this community requires a favorable credit history and a felony free record to reside here. Thank you for providing references (name and phone number is fine), including one from the landlord of the last place you rented.

The following information is extremely detailed and has evolved over the years. Most of the details are common-sense, but as a FORMER room-renting housemate I liked everything straight up and understood prior to moving in.

This is a drug and to***co free home. There is no smoking/to***co inside or out and your personal items should be free of smoke as well. Your visitors should be outside when smoking, and far enough away from the house to vent their to***co. Due to my allergies if you have hobbies involving toxins that may waft through the house like glue, painting, woodworking/staining we should discuss this prior to your moving in.

We are very conscientious of respecting the house and all who are here. I will ask from time to time if there is anything you need- and I hope you will let me know any concerns you have. I want you to feel the home is a safe, welcome, peaceful place of rest- free of stress, and that you are contented when you are here.

So if you are a clean, responsible, ‘baggage free’, hardworking individual that could thrive in the home as described below AND matches your lifestyle: Welcome Home!!!

Again, the following home description is very detailed- so I do not forget to let you know about all the little "ins and outs", and are able to enjoy the time in your home and the area.

ABOUT ME

I know after reading the first part of my information, it seems silly to say "I am easy going and laid back", but it is TRUE! And I am sure my former housemates would say the same. (Please ask me for refrences.) In my early years my career was in the food service industry. At the same time I worked for an EMS service as an EMT for 18 years. I then worked as a live-in at an assisted living home (for 4 years) where I had 40 grandparents. I teach the medical components for several programs at NMCollege and I have worked for Munson Medical Center for 14 years- the last 10 years as an N/A TECH in the ER. I also have a CPR/First Aid training business that allows me to teach offices/special interest groups at their place of business. I belong to the Critical Incident Response Team of Northern Michigan an serve on the board as well as a responder. Even though my attendance is intermittent, (with work and other commitments), I consider Westside Community my Church and enjoy the services and sense of community this fellowship offers.

What I like to do in my free time is laugh! I love to spend time with my family and friends. I think being kind to each other is the most important thing we can do as a person.

ABOUT THE HOUSE

LIVINGROOM

Standing 3-4 feet back from the fireplace, the remote control works by pushing on both buttons for 20 seconds (until you hear a click) while aiming toward the bottom of the fireplace. Pull down the door at the bottom to find the dial to operate the fan. After 20-30 minutes, turn on the ceiling fan (middle switch by the door) and the heat will distribute through the house. The fire place automatically lights to high heat but has a ‘low’ setting on the remote. The room will be roasting in no time!

The thermostat for central heat & air is in the hall next to the bedrooms. If this type of wall control is new to you, let me know and I can show you how it works.

The TV in the living room is a smart TV with 3-D and WiFi internet capability. Feel free to use the blue ray player to watch a movie on the big screen. Sometimes the internet cable box needs to be rebooted if you are not able to turn on the TV features. The Internet box is next to the TV and the log-in information is on the bottom of the box.

KITCHEN

I never have enough dirty dishes to fill the dishwasher. I use the dish washer for a drying rack most of the time- so ALL dishes in the dishwasher are clean- unless noted. The pump next to the sink sprayer is hand sanitizer.

I love the washer, it does a great job. Even if you have only a small number of things- the washer weighs the load and uses just enough energy and time to get the job done. When the wet clothing has been removed, the door should stay OPEN to allow the inside to dry. Please empty the lint trap each time you use the dryer.

To the left of the stove, there is a cupboard for small electrical appliances. They are plugged into a power strip that I keep “off” when the appliances are not being used. Most of the appliances are easily used on the counter above them and may be moved back under the counter, (for more counter space).
The toaster is on a tray on the top shelf of the upper cupboard above the appliances. The convection oven is great to use- let me know if you have not used one and I will create something fun for you to sample.

The refrigerator is my nemesis. I have room to improve at being a good refrigerator buddy. From time to time you may not have all the ingredients for something you are cooking. If you need something in the pantry, freezer or fridge- just mark it down on the list and I can replace the items, (eggs, cheese, can of soup, frozen dinner, etc…). The grocery jar is a common sense way to chip-in for what you consume and has always worked well in the past.

The bakers cart in the corner of the dining room can be wheeled into the kitchen when needed. On top of the cart is a large mixer for making bread dough, cookie dough, the big projects… Baking pans and other items needed for a big project are located inside the bakers’ cart. For smaller projects, baking sheets are in the lower cupboard in the kitchen and a small hand mixer is in the appliance cupboard.

Should you have a big dinner party, the dining room table extends to 10 people, and the x-tra chairs are stored the shed. I can help with that- just give me a heads up.

You are welcome to use anything in the house. I only ask if you should break something that you replace it- with the exception of general wear and tear, and items such as everyday glassware that tend to leap out of the hands without warning. Should you need ANYTHING please ask, I probably have it.

BEDROOM/BATH

Cleaning supplies are in the bathroom cupboard- please replace these items when needed. The bathtub plug is also in the cupboard, I normally keep the screen in the drain when taking a shower.

Bedroom, furnished with a double bed, dresser with mirror, walk-in closet with a utility cabinet, ceiling fan, bedside table with a lamp, full length mirror on the door and wastebaskets. I do not provide personal items such as towels, bed linen, light bulbs, toilet paper, alarm clock, etc.

Company will use the main bathroom, as my bathroom is connected to my bedroom.

When I am vacuuming or mopping the floor I will also sweep your bed and bathroom- please let me know if this is NOT ok.

UTILITIES INCLUDED

The utilities are water/sewer, trash, Wi Fi & basic cable*, natural gas, and electric.

Cable* & Internet
If you would like cable, you are welcome to get a box from charter communication. The cost is about $10 a month. Wi Fi is available throughout the house.

OUTSIDE

There is a cooler, beach chairs, towels, and other items you can take to the beach located in the shed. The small garden is fresh and yummy. There is an extra tank for the grill in the shed as well. Cooking pans/ wire holders for the grill are in the white storage box in the carport. The box rolls forward and it is open in the back. Meat thermometers are in the glass fish above the kitchen sink in the window. There is a 10 speed bike in the shed as well. Enjoy!

SNOW

Please park in the carport. The snow plow will bury the front of the carport. I will show you how to use the snow blower if you have not used one like mine.

TRASH

The dumpster is located on the opposite side of the street about 200 feet from the community office.

Extra Storage
The closest storage rental is on Barlow just past the Secretary of State. Munson employees get a discount- present your Munson ID. AND a little FYI: ask the places/services in town if they give Munson employees a discount- sometimes they will! There is a place on the intranet (MMC) that you may also print a list of discounts in the area.

OTHER STUFF

Come and go as you please. Should you be away for several nights- please let me know. I will do the same for you. Sometimes I go to visit a friend for a few nights depending on my schedule, travel or camping. Please let me know if you are going to have an overnight guest- I do not want to meet a stranger in my pajamas. I will do the same for you. The guest bedroom is also available when my mom Janet is not here. Summers are WONDERFUL in Traverse City. Make sure your family and friends come up to visit you. I have an air mattress if you need more space. (I also have a camper and a pop-up trailer I can sneak in for a few days if your guests would like a more private place to sleep.) Please keep in mind, (with the exception of your family), your friends cannot occupy the house when you are not present.

Family: My sister Shawn is a deputy for the Antrim County Sheriff’s Department and my sister Dawn works at the building department next to the Sheriff’s department in Bellaire.

Toby is the wonder dog. Because I have allergies to animals, dust, trees… he is hypoallergenic dog. He understands many commands and will make you laugh! He always wants to play- but understands “no”, and “leave it”. Like most boys he is very treat motivated.
Sparky is my Mom's dog. I have not had much time to teach him tricks but he is verry silly and will make you laugh! When the dogs need to go outside, they will ring a bell at the door. Other than that they enjoy napping.

My phone number is 231.645.3456

Traveling RN Team. If you are a travel RN "couple", I will consider renting to you for an additional fee of $10 daily. If you need a queen size bed I can check rentals and place the double bed into storage. The frame in the bedroom does extend to a queen, but does not fit as well as the double bed. If your family visits more than two consecutive weeks, a $10 daily rental fee applies beginning on week three.

Lastly, I am proud to say I have NEVER had a bad housemate. I am also blessed to stay in touch with everyone via FaceBook. ALL of my past housemates are welcome to return anytime they have a return contract. I always pray for the right person to find me and be 'blessed' as they live in this home.

WHEW! I think that is all!!! Let me know if you have any further questions, or need anything. I can make it happen.

Peace to you and yours,
Dee
