It’s that time of year again, and one of our favorite traditions at Northern Roots is back!

Every year, we collect holiday cards and care packages to send a little love from Northern Michigan to the brave men and women who serve our country, including those deployed overseas, active-duty military members, and veterans.

Imagine being thousands of miles from home during the holidays and receiving a handwritten card from someone you’ve never met, simply thanking you for your service.

Such a small gesture can mean SO much.

And the best part? You can participate right from the comfort of your own home!

💌 HERE’S HOW TO HELP:

🎄 Pick up a box of holiday cards (no glitter, please!).

✍️ Write a heartfelt message of thanks, encouragement, or holiday cheer. Get the whole family involved! Kids’ drawings and handwritten notes are especially welcome.

🇺🇸 Please leave the envelopes unaddressed. You may include your return address if you’d like.

📬 Drop your cards off at EXIT Realty Northern Shores anytime between now and November 24th at 5 PM!

🎁 WANT TO DO A LITTLE MORE?

We’re also collecting goodies for military care packages!

• Single-serve drink mixes
• Granola bars, trail mix, and beef sticks
• Individually packaged snacks
• Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and deodorant
• Other small comforts from home

(Please avoid mint-flavored items. Trust us, nobody wants their granola bar tasting like toothpaste! 😂)

💵 POSTAGE DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED!

Shipping care packages overseas isn’t inexpensive, and every dollar helps us send a little more love.

❤️ CHALLENGE TIME!

Grab your family, your coworkers, your classroom, your church group, or a few friends and write some cards together!

You don’t need to know someone in the military to make a difference in their day.

Our goal is simple: Make sure as many of our military heroes as possible know they are remembered, appreciated, and NEVER forgotten.

If we’re already visiting your home, you can send a coat donation back with our team and receive a discount as our way of saying thank you. You can also drop coats off anytime in the large collection box at Team Bob’s. 🗳️

Our Trunk or Treat event is right around the corner, and we could use a few more helping hands (and trunks)!

Candy donations can be dropped off at the Lodge office or placed in the cupboard in the coat room.

Our Trunk or Treat takes place Saturday, October 24th, from 11 AM to 1 PM, and we want to make it a wonderful afternoon for the kids in our community!

You don't need to have a decorated car to help make this event a success. Every little bit helps!

🇺🇸 LET'S GIVE OUR HEROES A WELCOME HOME TO REMEMBER! 🇺🇸

Tomorrow evening, Wednesday, October 21, our Honor Flight veterans will be returning home, and we'd love to see a HUGE turnout of Elks to welcome them back!

These brave men and women have given so much in service to our country. Let's show them just how much their service, sacrifice, and dedication mean to our community!

⏰ Please arrive by 8:45 PM (Welcome home celebration begins at 9:00 PM)
