Good morning , everyone . I hope you enjoyed the holidays.I thought I would give an update to everyone not on my personal page.
Things have been moving so slow.
We have done everything we can do and still waiting on permits . The demo and mold remediation are finished. Roofing , Electrician and Drywall are ready to begin. They are waiting for permits.
After 3 months , a mayor resigning , waiting on a fema letter
determining whether your substantial damage is under 50 % the city has pivoted to Option 2 which the residents have wanted all along . Hopefully this will speed up the process of permitting . With option 2, your damage is determined by the permits you apply for and the estimates you receive from your contractors.
Our beaches are open after a long process of cleaning and sifting the sand . The water quality has seemed to have improved. Many of the hotels have accepted fema vouchers to house people impacted by the hurricanes. A lot of people could not find any availability even up to two hours away .Luckily , we stayed at our friend, Linda's condo for the first month, then we returned home . It was just easier being here instead of running back and forth. Our 2nd floor is livable and our 1st floor is clean . We are making do with a small dorm size fridge and a wine/ beverage fridge, griddle, electric skillet and crock pot.
Hopefully , I will have good news soon that renovations have begun.
Thank you to all for your kind messages and calls . We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the coming year.
