Thirty-one years ago, I became a mom for the first time, and my life changed in ways I could not have imagined.

At that time, I was going to school for ophthalmology while also working in the automotive industry.

I was trying to build a better future for myself and my daughter, but two years after she was born, everything changed when I went through a divorce.

All of a sudden, I had to figure out life on my own.

I had to find reliable transportation, secure housing, arrange daycare, work a full schedule, continue school, and take care of my little girl. It felt like I was carrying the weight of everything at once.

I started working as a tech in an ophthalmology office, but the pay was not great, and I was still trying to finish school.

I was tired, stressed, and stretched thin, but I knew I could not stay stuck in that season forever.

That is when I made the decision to take more night classes so I could finish school sooner.

I worked long hours, studied when I could, and kept moving forward even when life felt hard.

At the time, I was living in an apartment, and I was thankful to have a place to live. Still, deep down, I knew I wanted something more stable for myself and my daughter.

I wanted a home that felt like a fresh start.

So I worked, saved, and pushed forward until I was able to purchase my first home on my own.

It was not easy to do on one income, but that home meant so much to me because it gave me peace, stability, and hope for the future.

Later in life, I got married again and had my second daughter, making my girls almost six years apart.

For a while, I thought life was finally in a better place because I was working as a healthcare professional, raising my girls, and doing my best to build a good life.

Then I was faced with another divorce, and once again, I had to start over. I had to relocate, figure out housing, find childcare, coordinate help for late work hours, and rebuild life for myself and my girls one more time.

That season was not easy, but I kept moving forward because I knew my girls were watching me.

I wanted them to see that even when life changes, you can still rebuild, grow, and create something better.

Many years later, after COVID, I made the decision to retire from ophthalmology and step fully into real estate.

At first, I thought I was simply starting a new career, but I quickly realized it was much more meaningful than that.

Real estate gave me a way to help people during some of the biggest life changes they will ever face.

I understood what it felt like to make housing decisions during hard seasons, and I knew how emotional, stressful, and overwhelming those choices could be.

Now, as an empty nester myself, I understand what it feels like when a home that once fit your life no longer feels like it does.

I know what it is like when the kids are grown, the rooms are quiet, the house feels too big, and the upkeep starts to feel like too much.

I also know that downsizing is not just about moving into a smaller house. It is about letting go of one season of life and stepping into a new one with more peace, more freedom, and less stress.

That is why I do what I do today. I help homeowners get clear on what to do next, make a plan that feels right, and move forward with confidence instead of fear.

If your home no longer fits your life, you do not have to figure it out alone.

I help Downriver empty nesters reduce the stress of too much house so they can achieve a simpler, low-maintenance lifestyle in their next season of life.

If that sounds like you, let’s talk about your next step.
