Tamarind Square Senior friendly independent HUD subsidized assisted rent housing. Hello and thank you for your interest in Tamarind Square. We are a Smoke Free Community.

We are an independent living assisted housing community for the elderly, handicap and disabled. The requirements to apply is to be 62 or older or if under 62 handicap or disabled. We offer HUD subsidized housing; Tenants pay 30% of their monthly income/assets after deductions. There is a one year lease once expired lease is month to month. The building is one level with 50 units and all apartments

are one bedroom one bath. We offer 5 with handicap accessibility and 39 with back patios. We also have a laundry facility onsite with plenty of parking. All utilities are paid with the exception of cable, phone and internet. There are designated smoking area for those Residents who do smoke and live in the community. We also offer Service Coordinator Services here onsite from Senior Independence. Who works closely with the community helping the Residents with everyday living requirements to do with home care, nurse aides, medical, prescription, social security, Ohio Job & Family Services and more. I have enclosed information about the type of services the Service Coordinator provides. Here at Tamarind Square we pride ourselves in offering a very quiet, clean and comfortable community. We have daily activities that are held in the community room and some off site as well. The Service Coordinator releases a monthly newsletter with calendar of the month to the Residents providing information of upcoming trips, activities, pot lucks, bible studies, events, etc. We are also listed with Senior’s Guide magazine and website;

We have a waiting list and we are happily accepting applications. To start the application process a preliminary application will need to be completed and turned into the rental office. Once received each applicant is place on our waiting list pending credit and back ground check. Once an applicant is accepted an appointment letter with additional paper work and instructions of what to do next is mailed out to the applicant. Christmas is a perfect time of the year for reflections and nostalgia. I would love to see any stories, traditions, or anything you would like to share with us.

One of my favorite memories at Christmas was the year my older brother and I woke up very early and changed all the clocks in the house to 5 am (we were allowed to wake up our parents at 5 am) we then wake up Mom and Dad and finally gather around the tree and begin opening our presents, having so much fun!!!! Then my Dad opens him gift---my mom had got him a radio that hangs in the shower how exiciting... until he turned it on and the radio personality says it is now 2:38 AM... Boy, did we get in trouble!!! Needless to say we had to go back to bed and we weren't allowed out of room to enjoy all the new toys we had just received until 9:00 am. Torture!!! Merry Christmas!
