Labor Day long weekend is right around the corner. We expect the Truckee-Tahoe area to be busy with both locals and visitors. We hope that everyone enjoys our beloved mountain town and does their best to show kindness to those around them, while also being mindful of our environment. There is a lot of construction within our region right now and, with the increase of visitation, expect potential delays when traveling around town. Here are a few reminders going into the weekend:
☀️PREPARE FOR THE HEAT- There is expected to be high temperatures going into the weekend and later next week. Try to save activities for the cooler times of the day, stay hydrated, never leave children or pets in the car, and do what you can to stay in the shade and keep yourself cool. It is a good idea to check in with elderly friends and family as well.
🚌 TART CONNECT- This curb-to-curb pilot program will wrap up at the end of this long weekend. Use the opportunity to ride the FREE, on-demand shuttle between 10am-10pm. Use the app or call 530-214-5811 to reserve your trip. The free curb-to-curb service is available in Tahoe Donner, Downtown Truckee out to Brockway Road, Glenshire, and the Tahoe Forest Health System zone. North Lake Tahoe’s TART Connect offers fall hours of 6-10pm daily, Sept. 6-Dec. 14, 2022. A fall Truckee program is currently being explored.
⛰VISIT TRUCKEE-TAHOE is an incredible resource for our visitors. If you know someone who is planning to visit- share the Visit Truckee, California website with them. They have travel alerts and relevant tips and recommendations on how to recreate responsibly, shop sustainably, and stay like a good “local” neighbor.
🎒PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT! This means being prepared and planning to take your trash with you when you visit public spaces. It also means, it’s your job to dispose of your dog’s waste. Be responsible pet owners and stewards for our local ecosystems and waterways.
💙BE KIND- We are lucky enough to be surrounded by an adventurous landscape with so many outdoor activities to explore. Be an active part of making the outdoors safe, accessible, and welcoming for all identities and skill levels.
