Interest rates should NOT stop you from buying a home in 2023. If you want to buy a home, you need to look past interest rates. The longer you wait to buy a home, the longer you miss out on building equity and appreciation in your property. You can refinance in the future when rates are lower, but you can’t go back in time and build appreciation. Financing a house isn’t the most exciting thing in the world–but it is one of the essential parts of buying a new home.

Did you know that not all properties qualify for the same financing? It’s true; sometimes lenders won’t lend mortgages on specific properties.

Likewise, some sellers won’t accept certain types of financing. So what’s a buyer to do?

When buying a home in 2023, you have two options.

1) Wait until interest rates drop and see what kind of home you can get

2) Or buy the home that’s right for you now and refinance down the line

If you’re at a point in your life where you’re ready to buy a home, and it makes sense, the equity you build will make it worth the higher initial rate.

Remember: you’re not married to your interest rate. When rates drop in the future, you can refinance your mortgage and have the best of both worlds: a lower rate and a home that’s building your financial future!
