Birthday Dump 🌸👇🏽

I self sabotage my birthday most years, this one included. It wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t good.

I powered through my day: bring the kids to school, go to work, hit up the school
open house after.

I choose to get take out as a celebration and by the time I got home…

I was unraveling. Sobbing through bedtime.

‘What’s wrong?’ my partner asked.
‘It’s my birthday’ I responded

The pressure for the day to feel special takes me
out.

But there is so much to celebrate.
my kids
my family
my dog
my job👉🏽 shout out to my coworkers for tricking me into a ‘meeting’ and surprising me with cake which I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise
pumpkin spice comes out around my birthday
chinese food
flowers from my love

it’s hard to see it when I’m in it. it’s a hard day to feel safe (check out my substack for elaboration). but I really do have everything I need and more ♡

one year ago we were checking out the playground at our new school now we’re in 1st grade! 🥹

watching my kids grow up is by far my favorite part of being a parent, while also being the absolute worst part of being parent ❤️‍🩹
