🌳Greenwaste Update🌳
City of Tulsa, ODOT, and OTA crews are continuing to work hard to clear the large amounts of greenwaste from the June 18 storm. When it's all said and done, Tulsa greenwaste sites are expected to receive about 500,000 cubic yards of greenwaste from this storm, a similar amount to roughly 37,000 large dump truck loads worth.
While some residential greenwaste may have been collected as part of the collective hard work from our crews, Curbside Greenwaste Collection has not quite started, but it is coming soon. As you can imagine, 37,000 dump truck loads' worth of greenwaste takes a lot of time and planning!
A schedule map and more information is expected by next week.
To prepare in the meantime:
🌳Cut all trees and limbs into 5-foot lengths and stack them (do not tie them) at the curb.
🌳Make sure greenwaste is free and clear of everything but 5-foot sections of trees and limbs from the storm. Please do not bury or set trash bags or other storm debris (fence posts, shingles, etc.) in your greenwaste piles.
🌳Make sure your greenwaste is not set under powerlines or trees, which could affect a grapple truck from being able to pick up your greenwaste.
🌳Make sure your greenwaste is not placed in the street.
🌳Make sure your greenwaste is not placed over water or gas meters, telephone or cable boxes, or mailboxes.
🌳Make sure your greenwaste is at least 3 feet away from fences, trash and recycling carts, or extra trash bags.
👉When pickups start, the City will be making one sweep throughout the entire city, so please prepare now and get all of your greenwaste to the curb so that it can be picked up.
👉If you don’t want to wait but still want a free disposal option, bring your greenwaste to the temporary mulch site at E. Latimer St. & N. 89th E. Ave., from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily. Tulsa residents, as well as Tulsa County, Broken Arrow, Bixby, and Jenks residents can utilize the site when they bring a photo copy of their ID or a recent utility bill.
Please note, trash and recycling operations are operating as normal at this time. If you have extra trash bags that won’t fit in your trash can that aren’t grass clippings or leaves (a.k.a. yard waste), each bag will need a sticker that can be purchased at any QT location or at City Hall during business hours. If you have yard waste (only grass clippings and leaves), you can place it into clear bags and leave up to 15 of them out next to your carts on your regular trash day. If you have extra clear yard waste bags or trash bags, please ensure they are not ending up in your greenwaste piles.
