Drop a ✋ if open houses are your preferred method of scoping out homes you’re interested in!
I wouldn’t be surprised if I get 0 hands below.
Why?
Because, like most things in today’s world, this step in the home buying process is moving online. According to the National Association of Realtors, only 7% of buyers found the home they bought by visiting an open house or seeing a yard sign. Instead, most buyers are using real estate aggregator websites (think: Zillow) in their home search — 51% of them ended up finding a home they bought from an online search, and for buyers in their 30s, that stat jumps to 61%.
