In 2018, my son Tyler and I began volunteering together at Night Light Tulsa, the weekly Thursday night outreach program run by City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma under the I-244 bridge at Maybelle Avenue and Reconciliation Way in downtown Tulsa.
What began in September 2013 with founder Sarah Grounds walking around asking people if they wanted their feet washed has grown into one of Tulsa's most impactful community programs, drawing 300 to 350 guests and up to 100 volunteers every single Thursday. The mission is simple and profound: every person has value and should be treated with dignity, and everybody has something to give.
City Lights is also developing City Lights Village, a 23-acre master-planned community of permanent affordable housing for Tulsans experiencing homelessness. For anyone in the Tulsa business community who wants to give back in a meaningful, consistent way, Night Light Tulsa is one of the most accessible and impactful volunteer opportunities in our city.
This Thursday. 6:30pm. Under the bridge. No registration needed for groups under 10.

The Birch Co. has completed more than 250 homes in Tulsa since Angus Martin founded the company in 2017. Custom luxury builds, high-end renovations, spec homes, and commercial spaces, all backed by a 10-year builder warranty and a process built around clear communication and intentional craftsmanship.
What I did not expect to learn when my friend Andy introduced me to Angus was that the same team building $800,000 homes in gated Tulsa neighborhoods is also developing tiny homes through City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma for Tulsans experiencing homelessness.
Every person deserves a home built with intention, and Angus Martin has built an entire company around that belief at every price point.

My 50th birthday gift was a book from one of my most remarkable friends.
The Noticer by Andy Andrews. I finished it fast and have not stopped thinking about it since.
The part that stopped me: 92 percent of what we worry about will never happen, has already happened, or is completely outside our control. Only 8 percent deserves our actual attention.
That perspective changed everything! 🤯🤯🤯
The book speaks directly to how I advise buyers and sellers in Tulsa. A seller who focuses on what their home offers rather than what the market is doing almost always outperforms one who leads with fear. A buyer who understands that homeownership builds generational wealth is making a decision rooted in wisdom, not just timing.

I have been recommending Simmons Homes to Tulsa buyers for 20 years. Family-owned, locally operated, 30-plus years in the Tulsa market, Energy Star certified on every build, and a design studio experience that buyers consistently tell me is their favorite part of the process.
Right now they are offering a $20,000 incentive for buyers who finance through their preferred lender: $12,000 in rate buydown and $8,000 in design credits. One of the most common misconceptions in new construction is that using a buyer's agent costs the buyer money. It does not. The builder pays the commission. The buyer gets professional representation at no additional cost.
