⛳️ Got the opportunity to check out the course with my brothers and watch some of the players practice. It was an awesome day and Southern Hills has knocked it out of the park. The entire event is going to be amazing.

Perspective is 🔑

🏠 With all of the talk about rising interest rates, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by it and even fear that you missed your window to buy. Here’s a little perspective to help you see that now is STILL a good time.

🏠 Average Interest Rates over the last 5 decades:
1970s : 9%
1980s : 12%
1990s : 8%
2000s : 6%
2010s (post crash): 4%
2020 (Covid) : 2.5%

🏠 If you notice after the housing market crash in the late 2000s the interest rate dipped down to around 4%. We got really used to that and then the pandemic happened and it dropped even further to a historically low number! BUT it was never going to stay that way. It was always going to eventually go back up.

🏠 The fed has hinted to more increases throughout the year and the market value is continuing to rise, but for perspective sake, it’s not the 80s! Yes 5% is more than 2.5%, but in reality we are still in good shape.

🏠 Don’t forget you can ALWAYS refinance if the rate drops lower than where it currently is. The key is to actually own something though, so you can be a part of creating your future. 💰

Happy Anniversary & Mother’s Day!

⚓️ 15 years ago in front of the Delta Gamma house my life changed forever. I remember standing out front with a couple of my frat brothers, while having the WORST chili bowl haircut for The Grapes of Wrath production I was in. Little did I know that I was about to meet my future wife.

⚓️ I’ll never forget seeing you walk down the steps and I thought “Dear God. I have got to figure out a way to meet her.” And so, I worked up the courage and dusted off my go to “ice breaker” line.

⚓️ (clears throat) “Hi, my name is Cody Mayo like the condiment.” You laughed and the rest is history. I liked who we were then, but I love who we are today way more. Aging like fine wine baby!

⚓️ You are a Leo through and through and I am so lucky to have a lioness as a partner and mother. Let’s be honest, none of this works without you. None of it. You have been the best partner someone could ask for. You love your family fiercely and you have a bleeding heart for strangers. Full of Grace and Compassion.

⚓️ My favorite thing about you is your willingness to say YES to hard things. From packing our belongings into a U-Haul and heading out to LA to build a life, to having kids when we didn’t have everything “figured out”, to saying YES to each foster child that came through our home.

⚓️ YOU are a great example and in your weakness you are still so powerful. Thank you for being the definition of a Mother and thank you for 12 years of laughter.

⚓️ Lastly, I realize Mother’s Day is a complicated experience. From our son who isn’t able to connect to his birth mom to the recent loss of your own mother. I know others look to you and think “if she can walk through that—I can too.” Your story gives us strength and Ben is so thankful to have you to serve in a mother role just as the others were that came before him.

⚓️ So here’s to the next chapter of saying Yes to hard things. Here’s to the magic. To the creativity. To the unconditional love. To the grace. And to the laughter.
