Wow congratulations and very exciting! Can’t wait to stop in!!!
After years of trying to figure out how we could rehabilitate the barn at McClelland Family Farm to host events, we honestly started to think it might never happen.
This winter we were standing on the store side of our building one day, looking around at the space, and I asked Andrew what he would think about building his dream stage right here instead.
His face lit up.
I don't think he could quite believe what he was hearing. He knows how much I love my store and how many years it took for me to get it. But I told him I was serious. If having a stage and a dedicated event space was something he truly wanted, then he could have my side of the building, and I would move my store to the other side.
A deal was made.
Since then, Andrew has spent the winter and spring working tirelessly to make that move possible. He built me a new office, constructed new bathrooms, reworked exposed plumbing, moved electrical, sheet rocked walls, and tackled countless projects behind the scenes so that Spruce & Hemlock could comfortably move to the other side of the building.
And to be completely honest?
I love it over there even more.
Soooooo, I am officially gifting Andrew my side of the store so he can build the stage he has dreamed about for years and have a space dedicated to something that has always been so important to him.
Do we know exactly what this project will become?
Not yet.
Do we know when it will be finished?
Definitely not.
If money were no object, we'd probably have it completed in a few weeks. But projects like this take time, and we're okay with that.
What we do know is that after years of renovating, moving, rebuilding, and adapting, we're ready to have a little fun with a passion project.
There will be more details coming soon about our hopes and dreams for this side of the building, the kitchen, and what we envision for the future. For now, just know that something fun is on the horizon.
So, if you stop into the store and it looks empty, don't worry! We haven't gone anywhere. We've simply relocated the gift shop to the other side of the building. After months of construction, moving, and reorganizing, we're finally getting the chance to stock the shelves back up and make the new space feel like home. The Spruce & Hemlock gift shop isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We plan to stick around for as long as you'll have us, and we're excited for you to see everything that's still to come.
Andrew, I cannot wait to see what you create with this space. The amount of work you have poured into this building over the years is the main reason the rest of us are able to continue doing what we do. You have built, repaired, renovated, moved, and transformed more than most people will ever realize.
You absolutely deserve this. My only hope is that we get to hear your beautiful voice up there from time to time!
