Can I be 100% honest for a bit?

These last few weeks have been hard for me in the real estate world.

I’ve felt like I take one step forward… and then get pushed two steps back.

The market is becoming more difficult. Sellers are getting impatient when their homes don’t sell quickly. Some are still holding onto 2022 pricing and struggling to accept that the numbers have shifted. Buyers have more inventory to choose from. Interest rates are higher. Negotiations are happening more often, and deals are taking more work to put together AND keep together.

And if I’m being transparent about my own business?

I’ve lost 3 listings in the last few weeks and had 2 buyers terminate contracts.

Talk about some good motivation. 😅

Those are the parts of real estate that don’t always make it onto social media. You see the SOLD signs, closing photos and happy clients. You don’t always see the disappointment behind the scenes, the hours of work that don’t end in a paycheck, or the days when you wonder what in the world is going on.

But I keep reminding myself of this:

The market I started in 9 years ago prepared me for this one.

I didn’t start when houses were selling in hours with 15 offers. I learned how to WORK for a sale. I learned how to follow up, negotiate, market, problem solve, have hard conversations and KEEP GOING when things didn’t go according to plan.

Maybe that’s exactly what this season is reminding me of.

I have the grit for this.
I have the stamina for this.
And I know how to work through a hard market.

Do I love every part of it? Absolutely not. 😂 But 9 years in, I still love what I do.

There is still opportunity in this market. It just takes realistic expectations, a good strategy and someone in your corner who isn’t afraid to tell you the truth.

Tough seasons have a way of reminding us what we’re made of. 💗

You see: SOLD. 🎉
You see: UNDER CONTRACT. 🏡
You see: “Man, she made that look easy!”

I see everything that happened behind the post.

The late-night texts. The early morning calls. The pricing conversations. The showings that went nowhere. The offers that didn’t work out. The negotiations. The inspections. The lender requests. The appraisal issues. The delays. The market research. The marketing adjustments. The tough conversations nobody wants to have. And the constant problem-solving to keep a transaction moving forward.

Real estate can look really pretty on social media.

But behind every SOLD sign and smiling closing photo are hours and hours of work that will probably never make it into a post.

And that’s okay.

Because my clients don’t hire me just to put a sign in the yard or open a door. They hire me to show up, give them sound advice, fight for their best interests, solve problems, communicate when things get hard, and help carry the weight of one of the biggest transactions of their lives.

Some deals are easy. Some are anything but.

Either way, I want my clients to walk away thinking, “She made that look easy.”

Because THAT is the job.
