Wow...this day have arrived!
After 1.5 years of preparation here I am, sitting at the veranda, listening to all the sounds, waiting for the sun to come out, as a new temporary guest of a Pastor Glen and his wife WinnieTotten, in Kampala.
Today is a special day, I could never have imagined the turn life would take since that first trip to Uganda in Oct 2018; nor how the transformative impact of learning to paint would have.
It all started with my personal reconciliation with God, after over 30 years being mad at Him for different reasons.
Those who know me well, may have heard of a dream of my childhood: to serve in Africa for at least 6 mo. Today I am starting to place a check mark on that bucket list dream.
To be honest I always thought would be with Mercy Ships since I have followed their work and supported them for over a decade, but I guess God had a different plan, and while I am really tired today, I am loving all of it!
Many of you have been walking this path, even if remotely, with me.
I just arrived in Uganda this morning and hopefully, as soon as the lockdown here is lifted, I can start working alongside Parakletis - Healing the Wounds of War - on projects to help the refugees in Kampala and Arua.
Together, God willing, the plan is to employ art to assist in the healing process; share new skills; and provide them with resources and tools to become self sufficient individuals, in spite of the horrors they have experienced during the wars in heir countries.
Visit www.Hartorg.com to either stay in touch, learn about the current and future projects we will be working in Uganda; and to support the work we will be doing there. These projects would not exist without your support.
I want to say thank you all of those who have helped so far, either with their donations, prayer, or/and with words of encouragement.
As soon as possible I will start sharing the activities and experiences there.
Until we meet again.
