Wow...this day have arrived!

After 1.5 years of preparation here I am, sitting at the veranda, listening to all the sounds, waiting for the sun to come out, as a new temporary guest of a Pastor Glen and his wife WinnieTotten, in Kampala.

Today is a special day, I could never have imagined the turn life would take since that first trip to Uganda in Oct 2018; nor how the transformative impact of learning to paint would have.

It all started with my personal reconciliation with God, after over 30 years being mad at Him for different reasons.

Those who know me well, may have heard of a dream of my childhood: to serve in Africa for at least 6 mo. Today I am starting to place a check mark on that bucket list dream.

To be honest I always thought would be with Mercy Ships since I have followed their work and supported them for over a decade, but I guess God had a different plan, and while I am really tired today, I am loving all of it!

Many of you have been walking this path, even if remotely, with me.

I just arrived in Uganda this morning and hopefully, as soon as the lockdown here is lifted, I can start working alongside Parakletis - Healing the Wounds of War - on projects to help the refugees in Kampala and Arua.

Together, God willing, the plan is to employ art to assist in the healing process; share new skills; and provide them with resources and tools to become self sufficient individuals, in spite of the horrors they have experienced during the wars in heir countries.

Visit www.Hartorg.com to either stay in touch, learn about the current and future projects we will be working in Uganda; and to support the work we will be doing there. These projects would not exist without your support.

I want to say thank you all of those who have helped so far, either with their donations, prayer, or/and with words of encouragement.

As soon as possible I will start sharing the activities and experiences there.

Until we meet again.

Noemi

In the next 45 days I will be leaving the U.S. to start a new life as a full time volunteer in Africa. I will be working alongside Parakletis - Healing the Wounds of War with refugees from the wars in South Sudan and Congo.

'Lord willing Noemi will be joining our Parakletis team in Uganda in the next couple months. 'Silent Pain'
This was my first attempt on portraits done about 1.6 years aho about 1.6...I had been painting for only about 12 months when I dared to take this on. It was a request by Pr. Glen Totten from Parakletis - Healing the Wounds of War, a ministry that is dear to my heart and that I plan (God willing) to join by July 2021 to volunteer with Hartorg - Healing Art Restorative Therapy and work alongside Parakletis using art to assist them on their trauma healing joirney.
For what I understand, it now hangs on a wall at a Parakletis House in Arua - Uganda.
Their amazing works with Trauma Healing and Counseling with the survivors of wars in South Sudan and Congo, have been making a difference in the life of so many of these refugees.
There are over 1.8MM refugees in Uganda which now is being increased by Somalians and Ethiopians running from the wars in their Countries.
They now are working in creating self sustainig projects for the refugees like the tailoring school in Kampala and the farming project in Arua. Learn more about these small projects at Parakletis.org and Hartorg.com.

Hello there, I hope this message finds you well and healthy while we deal with the Covid situation. If you are not yet aware I have decided to leave Real Estate after 16 years and become a full-time volunteer with Parakletis - Healing the wounds of war in Uganda. The goal is to use art as a healing therapy. As of July 2021, God willing, I will be leaving the U.S. and moving to Uganda for an undetermined period of time to volunteer in the refugee camps in Arua and Kampala, working with Congolese and South Sudanese refugees. The project is a wonderful project and captured my heart when I was there in 2018. Since then I have been serving them from here (U.S.) but have been feeling this tug in my heart to do and share the artistic gift I have to help others. In 2020, just before the Covid hit us, I decided to do just that. Covid has postponed my plans too, but I believe there is a time for everything, and now, as the final arrangements and appointments are in the making, I wanted to share this new venture with you. For those who don't know much about this, check out HARTORG.com and follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see the advancements, art pieces, and stories we are looking forward to sharing with family, friends, and supporters. We all can make a difference, some here from the comfort of our homes, and some going to the field and doing the work. Soon enough this page will be closed but I look forward to still be in touch with you.
