Each September, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) recognizes Realtor Safety Month, a dedicated time to raise awareness about the unique safety challenges real estate professionals face—and the proactive steps they can take to protect themselves.

While helping clients buy and sell homes may seem like a low-risk profession, the reality is that realtors often work alone, meet strangers in vacant properties, and operate in unfamiliar neighborhoods. These conditions can expose them to personal safety threats, theft, or even physical harm. Realtor Safety Month brings these issues to the forefront and encourages agents to make smart, informed choices during day-to-day operations.

NAR provides an array of resources during September, including safety webinars, training sessions, and checklists designed to empower agents. Topics often include situational awareness, personal defense, safe showing protocols, and the use of technology to stay connected and secure.
