❄️Cover and wrap exterior pipes and faucets
Most main box stores are out of the spigot covers here in Tyler, but you can use bubble or foam wrap to insulate the outside faucets.

❄️Let indoor faucets drip overnight to prevent freezing- preferably drip warm water, not just cold

❄️Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.

❄️Bring plants, pets, and outdoor décor inside

❄️Park vehicles away from trees and avoid icy bridges if possible

Back in April of 2018, my husband and I closed on our first home. It was a HUGE financial decision at 23 and 24 years old. We were very careful to be well within our means on our monthly payment and searched for a house that felt like home.

From the moment we wired the downpayment to the title company, we started building equity for the future. Little did we know that future included using that equity to buy a duplex as an investment property, our now home in The Villages, and a 2 acre lot to build our future home on.

Each one of these investments have carried us deeper and deeper into our lives as a family. We brought our baby boy home to the Avoyelles home. Both of our baby girls were born in our Windjammer home. Our lot holds a future not yet realized and that’s exciting unto itself.

The tumble of building equity started with a simple downpayment of 5% on a $220,000 house. I’m so thankful we started early and started small.

Real estate provides so many financial avenues to build wealth. Helping others do so and realize their homeownership dreams is such a gift. Thank you to each person who has allowed me to come alongside your dreams and make them a reality.
