Weird noises from a frozen Waneta Lake, like creaks, groans, pops, and even "singing," are normal and caused by the ice expanding and contracting with temperature changes, creating vibrations and cracks, sometimes amplified by wind or snow, with sounds ranging from low rumbles to high-pitched "blaster" pings as waves travel through the ice. Fish activity or escaping methane bubbles can also cause cracks, while sounds from wind pressure or ice sheets flexing can create unique, eerie sounds, often described as the lake "singing" or "groaning". You can clearly hear it from inside the house!

I'm telling you this and I am NOT a morning person... do not miss a sunrise here. Even with a sky full of clouds (my absolute favorite background in a photo) we get the most beautiful and serene sunrises here on the West side of Waneta. This was taken with my Android phone around 7:30am today... the lake does so much good for the soul ❤️🌊🌞🌤☁️

Even a rainy day on the lake is better than a sunny day at work- zoom in to see all the Fall foliage colors across the way ❤️🍁

It is always sad to see all the docks/boats coming out of the water but that just means Winter events like the Christmas themed wine tours and (hopefully) ice skating on the lake are just around the corner! For now, enjoying this cooler weather on the decks wrapped in a throw blanket will suffice.

We still have some weekday and weekend availability this year! Come out and experience the beauty that we have found in the and I guarantee you, too, will 🥂

Just added retractable gates for the basement level so the dogs can be out on the patio while we enjoy the hot tub. Every improvement we make here will always have comfort and convenience in mind ❤️🐾🌊🍷
