Big thank you to Paul from Pestmaster Services for recently letting me tag along in the field.

I got to see firsthand what a true pest professional looks for when it comes to WDI activity, moisture conditions, insect damage, and other concerns that can affect a home over time.

As a home inspector, I’m always looking to sharpen my eye and better understand the conditions that may require a specialist. This opportunity gave me a lot of practical knowledge that I know will carry into my future inspections.

What stood out just as much was Paul’s leadership and attention to detail. He takes pride in the work, leads by example, and even made something as simple as putting out yard signs feel like part of the mission 😄

Friday market thought:

Ulster County home values are still strong. Recent local data show that sale prices are up from last year, while sales activity has cooled slightly and inventory has improved slightly.

That means buyers may be starting to get a little more breathing room.

And when the market slows down even a little, that gives buyers a better chance to ask questions, take a closer look, and really understand the home they’re about to buy.

That’s one of the big reasons a home inspection matters.

A house can look great during a showing, but an inspection helps reveal the condition of the major systems and components so buyers can move forward with more confidence and fewer surprises.

In a market where homes still carry strong value, knowing what you’re buying matters just as much as getting your offer accepted.

The Skartados Home Inspections website is officially live. While it doesn’t dive deep into every detail just yet, it’s an important step forward and gives people a place to go to learn about the business and how to get in touch.

This site serves as a starting point, a central hub as the company continues to grow and evolve. More content, details, and refinements will be added over time, but the foundation is now in place.

🚨 Website Launch Announcement 🚨

I’m excited to share that the Skartados Home Inspections website will be going live tomorrow!

This site was built personally from the ground up. While not every feature is in place just yet, it will be live and functional at launch, with continued improvements and updates coming over time. The goal is to make it easy to learn about my services, get in touch, and request an inspection with confidence. Be on the lookout for tomorrow’s post of exactly when the live update hits.

🤔 Things That Make You Go “Hmmm…”

Small roof vent. Big potential issue.

This is one of those details that can easily turn into a leak if it’s left alone. The flashing around this vent isn’t quite right, and water usually finds these spots first.

Most roof problems start with small details like this, not the shingles themselves.

That’s why inspections matter.
