Cosing Day in Newport ✨🏡 — a little late because I forgot to post on Friday!

Some homes simply have a way of finding the right person, and this one was exactly that.

We toured this beautiful Newport home on a whim while Paige’s family was visiting from Texas, and from the moment we stepped inside, it was clear something special was happening. What began as a casual showing quickly turned into everyone falling completely in love with the home — its charm, its character, and the feeling that it was meant to be.

I still remember being in class on September 11, 2001.

Our teacher hurried us into the library, where all of the staff were gathered around what felt like 10 different TV screens—every single one showing the same thing.

It’s one of those moments you never forget.

I recently asked my kids if they’ve learned about 9/11 in school, and they told me they really don’t talk about it.

So we talk about it at home.

Every year, we watch the same video together so they can see what happened, ask questions, remember the lives that were lost, and understand the impact that day had on so many families, first responders, communities, and our country.

They weren’t there, but I want them to know why we remember.

Closing day is SUPPOSED to be the exciting day. 🔑🏡
The walkthrough is done, the papers are ready, everyone is packed up, and buyers are counting down the minutes until they finally get those keys.
But sometimes… closing day doesn’t go according to plan.
Sometimes the final walkthrough uncovers things that still need to be addressed. Sometimes repairs aren’t completed, paperwork isn’t ready, or something comes up at the last minute that makes hitting “pause” the smartest decision.
And that’s okay.
My job isn’t just to get my buyers to the closing table as fast as possible. My job is to protect them all the way THROUGH closing.
If that means asking questions, making sure agreed-upon work is completed, working with attorneys, lenders and the other side, or extending the closing date when necessary — that’s what we do.
A delayed closing can be frustrating, especially when you’re mentally and physically ready to move into your new home. But buying a house is a huge investment, and sometimes waiting a little longer is much better than rushing into a situation that isn’t ready.
Real estate isn’t always perfectly wrapped up with a bow on closing day. 🎀
Sometimes it’s messy.
Sometimes plans change.
Sometimes we extend.
But the goal stays the same: protect the buyer and get them to the finish line the RIGHT way. ❤️🏡🔑

A little real estate update—because no two transactions are ever the same!

🏡 I officially closed an off-market buyout at 32 Greenbriar Lane in Newtown, CT, where I represented the seller.

🏡 One of my buyers recently went under contract, and the sale required probate approval—which we officially received yesterday!

🏡 Another buyer completed inspections, and we discovered that what had been described as a cesspool is actually a septic system. That discovery brought up some important questions, especially since a previous quote had been written for cesspool removal and replacement.

One thing I have been reminded of lately is just how important communication is in real estate.

We are all balancing busy schedules, clients, inspections, attorneys, lenders, and deadlines—but clear and timely communication between everyone involved can make such a difference in keeping a transaction moving smoothly.

Real estate is truly a team effort, and good communication helps all of us better serve our clients!
