Finding tree roots busting straight through a crawlspace floor is a major red flag, and this is what was found on a recent inspection. Tree roots are incredibly powerful and constantly hunt for moisture, wedging into tiny cracks and expanding over time. This constant pressure can break up concrete, shift foundation walls, and create direct paths for water intrusion and pests. If there are mature trees tight against a home, checking the crawlspace for root growth is essential to catch structural headaches early.

The best use of wasted space under a staircase I have seen!

During a recent inspection, I came across this incredible custom wine cellar tucked perfectly beneath the stairs. It is the ultimate example of turning often-overlooked square footage into a high-end, functional feature of the home.

When square footage is at a premium, getting creative with "dead space" can add significant value and character to a property.

Hey do you want to see a big attic?

We just wrapped up an inspection on the most massive residential attic space VH Home Inspections has ever encountered. The sheer scale of the framing and the usable square footage tucked away at the top of this home was incredible to see.

When you’re dealing with a space this large, thoroughness is everything—from checking every inch of the insulation to ensuring proper ventilation across the entire span.

When you actually make your kid go to work with you on take your kid to work day lol. I showed Ryan how to perform an oil tank sweep ( He only posed for the picture). Then when we got back home I took him onto our lower roof to show him a few things. Excuse our missing shingle. 5 year old roof has a material failure so a few shingles needed to be sent back to the manufacturer.
