As our 2026 Summer Internship Program comes to a close, we enjoy reflecting on the valuable experiences and lessons our interns gained along the way. Here is Myles's experience:

This summer at SPK, I had the pleasure of working in the roadway unit. Coming in, I had no real engineering experience outside of the classroom. I was nervous coming in without anything under my belt other than a few classes, but once I settled into the office environment, my nerves quickly vanished. The strong mentorship I was blessed with as well as the support from every corner of the office supported me through any problem I had. The entire team, from front desk to the back wall, was cohesive, and it encouraged me to learn and grow. I was involved with work that felt impactful and necessary in getting jobs completed; it never felt as if I was handed, β€œbusy work.” My experiences gained this summer will be steppingstones I will use to aid the rest of my career, and I was grateful to be a part of the SPK team. I want to thank Perry and Patrick for letting me into the company and treating me to this experience. Also, I would like to thank my mentor Chris Nicola for guiding me the whole summer and answering my (many) questions. Thank you all for a great summer!
