A 2024 re-introduction! 👋🏼

Things become a bit more ‘real’ when you leave your stable 9-5 job that you’d worked so hard to get to. But when things just don’t feel right and opportunities arise, follow your gut. And that’s what I did.

Hey, I’m Rachel! I decided to change paths in 2023 from being a full time architect to focusing on real estate investing and design, then simultaneously planned a wedding, got married, and invested in my first flip all in one year!

Now, my entrepreneurial life looks a bit like this:

🏠 I Invest! in real estate in the PNW—first fix-and-flips, and long term rentals to eventually acquire and manage a boutique hotel.
✍️ I Design! for both my investment properties and for other single family homes and small hotel or retail projects.

Work aside, life is short and we’re all here to live it fully. I keep my circle small but am energized when surrounded by new people— whether side hustling at my local retail shop or chatting with a stranger at the dog park.

🏔️ I feel at home in the PNW. A place where your heart and mind are always at ease with the clearest waters, the steepest mountains, and the most beautiful sunsets. But seriously!
⛺️ I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty! Sign me up for anything outdoors with a sleeping bag and a chipotle burrito and I’ll be okay for days.
🍷 Avid wine drinker. Very possibly a bottle per night. Shh..
🐶 When they say dogs are a woman’s best friend, they’re not kidding. I love my pups and as a result, I think they’ve become part human too.

I hope you’ll keep following along this journey. 🙌🏻

Figuring it out isn’t always the easiest and things don’t happen as fast as you’d like them to, but I aim to share the good and the bad and to inspire other women to embrace an entrepreneurial spirit, because you can do it! 💪🏼👏🏼

Jingle Jingle 🔑 KEYS 🔑
Locked in door number one this week! 🚪🏡

A few of the treasures I stumbled upon in the estate sale from an early 1900’s craftsman home:
- One last standing mirror for mirror selfies
- Old bowling bags (with ball)
- Lopsided chandeliers
- Teeny shelves with vintage wallpaper

Excited to share details of the purchase, the reno and everything in between soon!

Getting closer day by day to securing my first investment property. I started the journey about eight weeks ago and man, are there lots of logistics to starting a business! This list is by no means comprehensive and there have been lots of networking, learning and pivoting along the way. I've found the best thing you can do to push yourself towards success is surround yourself with the right people and find a team you can trust. Looking forward to my first property and beginning the design and renovation by the end of this year!

A few months ago, I stepped away from my architecture job. I began journaling a few times a week as a way to externalize my thoughts and think deeper about the possibilities of change for the future. Recently, I was sifting through the journal to reflect on the evolution of my thought process, priorities, emotions and ideas.

It was pretty fascinating actually. I've never been a huge advocate of journaling, not because I don't think it's effective, but because I've never really consistently done it myself. It turns out, it's an incredible tool for self-therapy and even brainstorming. It's proven to be especially effective for me as a visual learner, who pairs words with sketches. My journal quickly became more of a ‘sketchbook journal’.

I thought I'd share a short excerpt from the journal that I wrote back in July. It’s a good reflection, but also a reminder that we have the ability to steer our own path.
