📣 A Message to Real Estate Investors, Wholesalers & Problem Solvers in Our Industry
After 25 years in mortgage finance business—rehabs, wholesaling, hard money, distressed properties—there’s one principle I repeat over and over:
Our job isn’t to buy houses. Our job is to understand people.
If you don’t ask the right questions, you can’t provide the right solutions.
Recently, I met a woman—let’s call her L—from Nashua who wanted to sell her mobile home. Like always, I sat down to learn her what, when, where, and most importantly, her why.
During multiple conversations, something felt off. She told me she was moving to Washington State to live with her fiancé, who she said would be paying off her mortgage. But as I asked more questions, the story changed. She hadn’t seen him in over a year. She “met” him at a casino. He had repeatedly asked her for money. He claimed he needed her to send Apple Cash cards.
She handed me her phone—and after scrolling through the messages, my heart dropped.
It was a classic romance scam.
And she had been sending money… while living on $1,400/month from Social Security.
This is why our work MATTERS.
Too many investors focus only on numbers, deals, and margins. But real impact—the kind that actually changes lives—comes from listening deeper than the surface level. It comes from compassion. From patience. From asking the uncomfortable questions that uncover the real situation so we can protect the people we serve.
In this business, we aren’t just buying property off-market.
We are:
✅ Filling gaps.
✅ Solving problems.
✅ Guiding people through emotional, stressful transitions.
✅ Protecting those who might not know they’re being taken advantage of.
That only happens when you lead with empathy, integrity, and transparency every single time.
This industry doesn’t need more deal-chasers.
It needs more professionals who genuinely care.
If you’re an investor, wholesaler, or problem solver in real estate, let this be your reminder:
👉 Ask more questions.
👉 Listen with intention.
👉 Understand the full story before you try to create a solution.
👉 Be the person who protects—not preys.
There are people out there who desperately need someone ethical in their corner.
Let’s be that someone.
