One of the things I enjoy most about Seattle real estate is how much the housing changes from neighborhood to neighborhood.
A search can take you from a 1910 Craftsman to a brick Tudor, a mid-century home, contemporary new construction, a townhome or a downtown high-rise, sometimes all in the same afternoon.
My background in interior design has always made the architecture side of real estate particularly interesting to me. Beyond aesthetics, good design can have a real impact on how a home lives, how it functions, and ultimately how buyers respond to it.
I put together a guide to some of the residential architecture that shapes Seattle and what makes each style distinctive.
Seattle housing stock is far more varied than the market statistics suggest. Learning to recognize what is difficult to recreate makes it easier to understand why some homes feel irreplaceable.
