🇺🇸 September 11, 2001. Never Forget.
It was a beautiful, sunny morning in Tysons Corner, Virginia. I was at work at my desk when the receptionist called me and we all gathered around a television after hearing a plane had hit the World Trade Center. At first, we wondered if it was a terrible accident.
Then we watched the second plane hit and knew, it wasn't an accident.
My brother was stationed at the Pentagon at the time. Thankfully, he was working remotely that morning. He called and told me to head home, avoid major highways and bridges, and soon after our building was shut down.
Days later, I learned my friend and coworker Todd Reuben had been aboard Flight 77, traveling to a work meeting when the plane struck the Pentagon.
Twenty-five years later, I still remember Todd, his widow, his two young children who are now adults, and every family forever changed that day.
I also remember what happened afterward—neighbors helped neighbors, strangers cared for strangers, and for a moment our differences didn't seem nearly as important.
All these years later, we need more of that. We need to do better.
Never Forget isn't just about remembering what happened.
It's about remembering the people. 🇺🇸
In memory of Todd Reuben and all those we lost on September 11, 2001.
