For Yozmi, that’s meant growing from an Arts Street intern into a mentor and emerging creative leader.
As a first-generation Mexican American woman, Yozmi also finds connection to her heritage through art. Her featured design draws inspiration from traditional embroidery, reflecting the history, resilience, and cultural traditions woven into each stitch.
Since joining Arts Street at the Youth Employment Academy in 2023, she’s contributed photography and design work to community projects and supported fellow young artists. Now, through the Side Hustle program, she’s developing a community zine celebrating Latinx artists, writers, and music.
